The DAAD “Leadership for Africa” Scholarship Programme 2023–2024 is now accepting applications. The program intends to encourage young refugees and national academics from Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo as they improve academically at German higher education institutions.
Mission of the Program
This program aims to aid in the education of future leaders who will be crucial for the continued development of their home nations during a time of violence and displacement in several African countries. Without regard to medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law, the arts, or architecture, “Leadership for Africa” grants scholarships for Master’s programs in Germany.
Benefits of the DAAD Leadership for Africa Scholarship
The scholarship comes with:
German language instruction in Germany for up to six months prior to the commencement of university studies
Starting in the winter term of 2024 (September/October 2024), a public or state-recognized German institution will provide a tuition-free M.A. or M.Sc. degree program.

DAAD Scholarship for Leadership in Africa eligibility requirements
The initiative has two demographics in mind:
Refugees with refugee status who are highly qualified and meet the requirements for master’s study in Germany. Candidates must meet the requirements listed below:
having received refugee status before April 3, 2022, and maintaining it in their host countries.
The refugee’s home nation must be one of the following: Chad, DR Congo, Niger, Nigeria, or Togo.
completed their undergraduate studies at the time they applied.
graduates from Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger, Nigeria, or Togo who meet the requirements for master’s study in Germany. Candidates must meet the requirements listed below:
Either being a citizen of Togo, Niger, Nigeria, the DR Congo, or Chad.
The applicant’s home country is either Togo, the DR Congo, Niger, or Nigeria.
completed their undergraduate studies at the time they applied.
