BREAKING: Wike Bans #EndSARS Protesters In Rivers State
The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has banned #EndSARS protesters from protesting against the brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS in his state state.
Gov. Wike declared the ban on #EndSARS protest in a statement issues on Monday by the Rivers state Commissioner for Information, Paulinus Nsirim.
According to him, the police has scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), and at such there is no need of protest against the police unit that no longer exists.
Wike also noted that the Law enforcement agencies in the state has been directed to arrest any Violator of the EndSARS campaign.
He also called on parent and guardians to caution the children or wards against storming the street for any form of protest.
“Parents and guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order,” the statement said.
Recall that The Inspector General of Police on Sunday announced the dissolution of the SARS unit of the Nigerian Police force.
The SARS unit was dissolved following many online and ofline protest demanding the scraping of the brutal police unit.
Despite the police announcement, protesters have continued to march through the streets in various parts of the country.
The protests have generally been peaceful, except in some places where the police deployed force and fired live bullets and teargas to disperse protesters.
