Edo House Of Assembly Speaker Francis Okiye Impeached
The Edo state House of Assembly has impeached its Speaker, Hon. Francis Okiye.
The Speaker, Francis Okiye was impeached over allegations of high-handedness, a motion filed by the Majority Leader, Henry Okhurobo.
His Impeachment could be linked to the controversial circumstances that rocked Edo in June 17, 2020 when 9 senators out of 24 elected senators were inaugurated at Mid-night leaving others unattended.
Okiye’s impeachment letter was signed by nine of the 10-members who were present at the brief sitting on Monday.
The House without wasting much time, elected Hon. Marcus Onobhu, member repressing Esan west constituency as its new speaker.
