Edo House Of Assembly Complex Vandalized, Roof Removed
It all started this morning when the Nigerian police force laid seige at the Edo House of Assembly Complex at Benin City Edo state.
Speculations has it that the action of the Police was because of the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker alongside 4 others for supporting the governorship candidate of the APC.
The Police Drama took another shape when some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside the Governor Godwin Obaseki(now PDP) and the Speaker of the House, Frank Okiye entered the premises unhindered.
The Governor condemned the act stating that his opposition are in desperate move to take over the assembly complex and occupy it in order to disrupt the democratic process and rule of law.
He also assured the good people of Edo state that he is determined to ensure that the rule of law and one-man-one-vote was accomplished in the state.
On the other part, the Speaker of the House of Assembly Frank Okiye said that the action of the police was instigated from Abuja.
Shortly After addressing the crowd, some tipper trucks were seen off-loadeding sands and gravels in front of the Assembly.
Some unknown persons were also seen on the roof top of the complex removing the roof sheets as well as smashing the mace.
When this construction worker were asked why they were taking such action, they said they were working on instructions from the appropriate authorities.
