#LekkiMassacre: Mass Shooting Only Happened On Social Media- Lai Mohammed
In a bid to regulate social media in Nigeria, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has argued that the Nigerian Army did not kill any of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate as reported.
Arguing during a meeting with Southeast leaders, the Minister of information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said that the Army did not kill anybody during the protest as alleged by the media.
According to him, the alleged Lekki massacre only happened on social media and not in real human realm.
He further argued that his investigations has revealed that no one was killed nor injured during the protest, according to him, the Lekki Massacre was targeted at sabotaging the efforts made by the Federal Government.
“There was no massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate. The only massacre that took place during the EndSARS protest was the social media massacre.
“Fake news was used; they used social media to spread what did not happen, which led to reprisals,” Mohammed said.
further insisting that social media must be regulated, Lai Mohammed said “social media regulation does not mean stifling the media, it does not mean shutting down the social media, it means responsive use of the social media. Fake news can shake the cause of the world.” he said.
