Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has lamented that the Igbo looses more than 1trillion naira annually for having the least number of states and LGAs among other tribes.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo made this disclosure in a statement by its spokesman, Chuks Ibegbu on Thursday while recounting the loses incurred by the tribe for having the least states and local councils amongst other tribes.
According to them, “These losses are unquantifiable. In monetary terms, it’s more than two trillion naira annually,”
“Everything in Nigeria is shared based on states and local governments, and we have the least in this scenario.” He had said.
Urging the president to create more states for Ndigbo, the group lamented that the Igbo are structurally marginalized in all aspects and it is high time the federal government heeds to the Igbo course.
“Do you know what we miss by having the least number of local governments and states in Nigeria?
“Whether recruitment into the Army, admission in higher institutions, employment in the public service, etc., Igbo are the least,” the group noted in the statement.
He added that if the federal government want to do the right thing and end agitation in the southeast, it should not file any excuses but grand her request.
